Privacy Policy

Summary: Classly is a tool for tutors. We collect only what we need to make the app work. We never sell your data. Student data is entered by the tutor and stored securely in Firebase (Google Cloud). You can request deletion at any time.
1. Who we are
Classly ("we", "our", "the app") is a mobile application for solo tutors to manage students, fees, and payments. The app is operated by the Classly team and is available on Android (iOS coming soon).
For any privacy-related questions, contact us at support@classlyapp.com.
2. What data we collect
2.1 Data you provide directly
- Your phone number — used for OTP authentication (Firebase Phone Auth). We do not store your phone number beyond what Firebase requires for authentication.
- Your name and profile details — entered during onboarding (name, teaching category, UPI ID).
- Student data — names, phone numbers, class enrolments, and fee records that you enter about your students.
- Class data — class names, fee amounts, schedules, and meeting links you create.
2.2 Payment screenshots (OCR feature)
When a student uploads a payment screenshot via the Classly web link, the image is stored in Firebase Cloud Storage under your instructor account. We use Google Cloud Vision to extract the payment amount. The screenshot is used only for payment verification and is not shared with any third party.
2.3 Automatically collected data
- Device token (FCM) — used to send push notifications when a payment is verified or needs review.
- Crash reports — anonymous crash data via Firebase Crashlytics to help us fix bugs.
- Usage analytics — anonymous, aggregated usage data via Firebase Analytics. No personally identifiable information is included.
3. How we use your data
- To provide and improve the Classly app
- To authenticate you via phone OTP
- To store and sync your student, class, and fee data across devices
- To run OCR on payment screenshots for automatic fee verification
- To send push notifications about payment status updates
- To respond to support requests
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to any third party.
4. Student data and your responsibilities
You (the tutor) are responsible for the student data you enter into Classly. By using Classly, you confirm that you have obtained appropriate consent from your students (or their parents/guardians) to store their name and phone number in a third-party application.
We process student data only on your behalf, as a data processor. You are the data controller for student information.
5. WhatsApp messages
Classly helps you compose and send WhatsApp messages to your students' phone numbers. These messages are sent via the WhatsApp app installed on your device — Classly does not have access to your WhatsApp account, messages, or contacts. We do not send messages on your behalf.
6. Data storage and security
All data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage), hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. Firebase applies industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest.
Access to your data in Firestore is protected by Firebase Security Rules — only you (authenticated with your phone number) can read and write your instructor data.
7. Subscription and payments
Classly Pro subscriptions are managed through Google Play In-App Purchases (Android) and Apple App Store (iOS). We do not store your payment card details. Billing is handled entirely by Google/Apple.
Subscription status is synced via RevenueCat, which receives anonymised purchase receipts from the app stores.
8. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your data (instructor profile, students, classes, fees, screenshots) will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
To request account deletion, email support@classlyapp.com with the subject "Delete my account".
9. Third-party services
- Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, storage, analytics, crash reporting
- Google Cloud Vision — OCR processing of payment screenshots
- RevenueCat — subscription management
- Google Play / Apple App Store — in-app purchases
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.
10. Children's privacy
Classly is designed for tutors (adults). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Student data (such as names and phone numbers of minors) is entered by the tutor and is the tutor's responsibility to handle appropriately.
11. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your data
To exercise any of these rights, email support@classlyapp.com.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via a notification in the app. Continued use of Classly after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
